Production work in the latest draft Australian director Fred Schepsi The Eye of the Storm has begun. This is the first company Schepisi, after Empire Falls (2005), and is the first movie that is filming in their home country after A Cry in the Dark (1988). The film is being produced by Antony Waddington, Gregory Lee, and Schepsi itself. The screenplay was adapted by Judy Morris.

The story is based on the 1973 classic of the same name, written by Nobel Prize winner Patrick White, who is also Australian. Be specifically mentioned by the Swedish Academy when White won the Nobel Prize for Literature, is considered one of the best works of the author.
